Today I wanted to share a few beautiful locations for elopements close to Barcelona. This post is perfect for you if you are looking for a beautiful place to elope, outside of the city center. All these locations are still close enough to Barcelona so that you can combine your holidays with a few nights in the city, and a few nights outside of it. Let’s begin!
S’Agaro

S’Agaro is a very small seaside village located in a beautiful area of the Costa Brava, about 1 hour 15 min drive from Barcelona city. My suggestion is to have Hostal La Gavina as a reference point. Don’t let the name of the hotel fool you, it’s a five star hotel in traditional Spanish style. If you wish to have a wedding arch for your elopement you can have the elopement ceremony in their garden.
But if you prefer something more close to nature, you can take a walk directly from the hotel on the Camino de Ronda de S’Agaro. The path has beautiful views of the sea and the coast. There is also a view point Mirador del S’Agaró, as well as some other architecture.
Most people will fly to Barcelonas international airport Josep Tarradellas. But Girona/Costa Brava also has it’s own airport located just outside of Girona. It’s a very small airport, but there are some flight companies that fly here, so it might be worth checking up (for example Ryanair, and Jet2). From this airport the transfer time to the hotel is only 30 minutes, so it might be worth looking into. Otherwise I suggest that you rent a car at Barcelona airport. Why not make a small road trip out of it?

Sitges

Sitges is a coastal town located just a 40 min drive south from Barcelona. You will be surprised by the beauty and authenticity of this little town! It’s a perfect place for a day trip if you are staying in Barcelona. Sitges also has some really nice hotels in case you’d prefer to spend the night. The village was from the beginning a fisherman’s village, which you can tell by the white façades. It has a very welcoming atmosphere and it’s a great destination for groups of friends, couples and families. Just like Barcelona, it’s a very LGTB friendly destination. Despite only having 28,000 inhabitants, it has it’s own Pride festival, as well as other popular events for the gay community.
There are many possibilities for elopements in Sitges. Beaches, the port, cliffs by the sea. You’ll also find natural environments such as the Garraf Natural Park, if you don’t mind hiking a bit. The surrounding areas are also a great for those who want to rent a private villa. Better Together Weddings Spain is based here in Sitges. You can for sure say that we have a soft spot for this town!
Tossa de Mar

Tossa de Mar is a little gem located on the Costa Brava north of Barcelona. It’s a popular holiday destination and offers really nice beaches. There’s a cute, old town with a medieval castle, old church ruins and a medieval defense wall which gives the place it’s character. And not to forget, beautiful views over the sea and the boats. I would personally find a spot with the sea as a backdrop. The easiest way to get here is by car. If you fly to Girona/Costa Brava airport, you just have a 35 min transfer so you don’t even need a car if you don’t want to. Although it’s really nice to have it so you can explore the surrounding areas as well!

Cadaqués

Cadaqués is known for it’s beauty and picturesque surroundings. It’s also known for being home of world famous painter Salvador Dalí. It has also inspired other artists, writers and poets such as Picasso, Federico García Lorca with it’s beauty. The village is located about 2 hours and 15 min drive north from Barcelona on the coast. The French border is only 1 hour away.
Cap de Creus

Cap de Creus is the headland where the Pyrenees reach the Mediterranean. The mountains gives the entire area a very special environment. It’s rocky and rough views are absolutely breathtaking. You can easily “escape” to Cap de Creus if you are staying in Cadaqués which is the main city in the area. It’s located about 2,5 hours drive north from Barcelona, and 1,5 hours from Girona/Costa Brava airport.
Calella de Palafrugell

Calella de Palafrugell is another tiny but beautiful village on Costa Brava which really has the Mediterranean essence. Not to be mixed up with Calella, which is another city located much closer to Barcelona. Calella de Palafrugell is located about 1,5 hours from Barcelona, and 50 min from Girona city. Girona/Costa Brava airport is situated about 45 min away. This village might be a bit too small for some couples, but it does make a perfect place for a photo session or an elopement. If you want, you can book your accommodation in Palamós, which is a larger town about 15 min drive away.
Blanes

Blanes is the city where Costa Brava starts, and there we can find a botanical garden called Jardi Botánic Marimurtra which is located just next to the sea. It has beautiful views over the Mediterranean. There is also a view point called Temple de Linné which is ideal for photography. It’s also possible to have a ceremony there for a fee. The park is located about 1 hour drive from Barcelona. This means that you could have your accommodation in either Barcelona or Blanes.
And that’s it for this time! I hope you got inspired by some of these locations. And if you are planning an elopement here in Barcelona I would love to hear about your plans!
